Explore how technology for nonprofits is being put into practice through grassroots AI, data strategy and practical learning opportunities from Project Tech4Dev.
Technology for nonprofits is rarely about the technology itself. The more useful questions are: What problem are we trying to solve? What needs to be in place? And how do we make sure technology actually works in practice?
This month, Project Tech4Dev is exploring two ways organisations can build their capacity to use technology well: through AI for real organisational challenges, and by making better use of the data they already have.
We’re also looking back at some of the conversations and work from September.
Grassroots AI Impact Lab
People4Good | AI for real organisational challenges
The Grassroots AI Impact Lab brings together 20 grassroots and nonprofit organisations to work on a real organisational or programme challenge and explore how AI could help address it.
The 12-week programme combines a three-day bootcamp with mentoring, technical and design support, peer learning and ongoing support as participants build and test practical solutions.
The focus is not on adopting AI for its own sake, but on starting with a problem and seeing where technology can genuinely add value.
Data Decoded | Delhi
29 October | 9 AM–5 PM | Delhi
Organisations collect data every day. The harder question is whether that data is helping them make better decisions.
Data Decoded is a one-day strategy and advisory session that creates space to look at an organisation’s current data landscape, identify key challenges and define practical priorities for moving forward.
The aim is to help organisations move from collecting data to using it more effectively.
From September
September brought together a range of conversations and experiments across Project Tech4Dev, Glific and Dalgo.
Here are some of the stories and reflections worth revisiting:
Ecosystem Partners Convening
What happens when NGOs, technologists and funders come together to think about the capabilities the social sector needs next?
Charcha: The Conversational Last Mile
Exploring what it takes to make communication with communities more meaningful and scalable.
GlificConnect
What practitioners are learning about two-way communication, technology and the realities of the last mile.
Beyond the tools
AI and data are changing quickly. But the underlying challenge remains the same: how do organisations build the capability to use technology well?
Sometimes that means experimenting with a new tool. Sometimes it means understanding what you already have. And often, it means creating the space to learn, test and adapt.
That’s where we’ll continue to focus.
